A small bundle of letters written by Lord Lister, Florence Nightingale and Lord Athlone to Sir George Makins. These letters were donated by a relative, Miss Margaret Warrington, to St Thomas' Hospital, to be deposited with the St Thomas' Hospital archives in the Greater London Record Office, 27 June 1973.

Administrative / biographical background:

Sir George Makins (1853-1933) was appointed assistant surgeon to St Thomas' Hospital in 1886 and surgeon in 1898. He married in 1885 Mrs Margaret Augusta Fellowes who had trained as a nurse in the Nightingale School.
