Administrative / biographical background:

The Mildmay Memorial Hospital, Newington Green Road, Mildmay Park, was opened in 1883 as the Mildmay Memorial Cottage Hospital. Its parent institution was the Mildmay Deaconess' Institute, which was also responsible for the Mildmay Mission Hospital whose records are kept at the Royal London Hospital Trust Archives Centre, The Crypt, St Augustine with St Philip's Church, Newark Road E1 2AA.

In 1908 the Mildmay Memorial Hospital dropped the 'cottage' element of its name, and from this date until 1916 was a part of the Mildmay Medical Missions.

After the introduction of the National Health Service in 1948 the hospital was administered by the North West Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board, and locally by the Archway Group Hospital Management Committee. The hospital closed in 1958.
