Archival history:
No records have been deposited in the Greater London Record Office by Area 2. In 1970 it was reported that 'Area 2 had a 'clear cut' a few years ago when their offices were decorated." All the records listed below have been deposited by Central.
Administrative history:
Area 2 was formed in 1950 by the amalgamation of the district committees for Kensington, Paddington and St Marylebone and Westminster.
In 1965 Chelsea was transferred from Area 1 to Area 2 to correspond with the boundaries of the new London Boroughs.
