Held by: London Metropolitan Archives: City of London, not available at The National Archives
Language: English
Administrative / biographical background:

By 1949 the Stepney Infant Welfare Centre had been handed over to Stepney Borough Council and the original purposes for which the Fund had been formed were largely being met by statutory social services. A Charity Commission scheme dated 9 December 1949 directed that the income of the charity was to be applied towards providing holidays, rest or convalescence for young children, mothers of young children and expectant mothers, who lived in Stepney and were in need thereof. In November 1974 the trustees handed over their responsibilities to the Family Welfare Association.
