Administrative / biographical background:

The purpose of this Committee was to study the administration and finances of the public social services and to impart the results of the study to the public by means of letters to The Times written by Geoffrey Drage. The Committee was completely separate from the Charity Organisation Society. The only link was that they both used the same building, Denison House, and shared the same secretary, Herbert Woollcombe, who was succeeded by the Revd J. C. Pringle.
