Ts account (182pp photocopy) written by Newell in 1982 describing his service with 'E Group North' (later part of RAPWI - Repatriation of Allied Prisoners of War and Internees) bringing relief to, and organising the evacuation of Kanchanaburi prisoner of war camp in Thailand (August-September 1945), including his training beforehand and his meetings with his unit leader Colonel (later Sir Douglas) Clague and Boon Pong. Newell was responsible for the liberation of Kanburi and was the first 'outsider' to visit it in August 1945.
