Description:

The list was issued at Calcutta by the Adjutant General of the Bengal Army (to 1865) and by the Military Department (1866-1889). Printers are named up to 1825 [1-4 Patrick Crichton, 5-8 & 12-18 Charles Silverton, 9-11 Andrew Dias], and between 1862 and 1866 publication rights were granted to the Bengal Military Orphan Society. British Army units stationed in Bengal appear from December 1837; the Bengal Civil Service is included 1862-1880; War Services of British officers are given in the January issues from 1865 to 1882 and in every issue from 1883; War Services of Native officers appear in the January issues for 1888 and 1889.
