Report of the visiting justices on their efforts to improve the sanitary condition of the new gaol, 28 June 41. Crown calendar, 14 July 59. Average cost of each prisoner in the gaol, 1844-49 126. Copy, Frederic Hill (Home Office inspector) to Sir George Grey (Home Secretary), 14 June, recommending an arrangement with the city gaol, so that the county gaol can keep to the rule of one prisoner par cell. He attributes the spread of the fever mainly to overcrowding 148. Brownlow, Asbridge, 1 Oct., about John of Gaunts bow window 151. W.A.
