Apologises for not writing, due to pressure of business. Asks him if he is active in military and county business. He was appointed Depty. Lieutenant and Lieut. Col. of the Volunteers but has escaped from the latter. Has to take part in the Commission on property tax. If the threatened invasion should come his county would be in too much confusion to resist. Fears that if they reach London the banditti there would join them and do much harm. Family news.
