Mr. Nevill to marry Miss Gardiner, who is becoming a Catholic. Miss Annesley become a R.C. against violent opposition from her family. Asks him if Mr. Berrington can borrow some of the books at Bosworth for his history of the 12th century, also Mr. Throckmorton for his Elizabethan history. Proceedings of the Catholic Committee - want a remission of double tax and alteration of oath of supremacy so that Catholics may serve in the army and navy, vote and become lawyers and counsellors. Opposition to a school in the North. Potts fears it is aroused by Jesuits in order to protect the establishment at Liege.
