Replying to some criticisms of FFT's that the church is divided from society. Taking each of the Church's six commandments - veneration of saints' days, mass on Sundays, Confession once a year, Easter Communion, regulation of days of fasting and abstinence - in turn he explains how obedience to them is beneficial to society. Also objects to the criticism of immorality of the clergy - not all are so although "le libertinage s'est glisse dans le sanctuaire". Not all churches are overburdened with pomp and ceremony - his certainly is not. He apologises for long letter but replies only out of respect for the Turvile and Talbot families as pillars of the Church.
