In the early 1940's this firm took over the business of Sidney Palmer who had been a chemist at the same premises since c.1915. The first five volumes in this series of prescriptions books belonged to Samuel Francis Burford who had premises at 2, Halford Street from c.1888-c.1905, and at 8, Halford Street until c.1913.
