The Association was first known as the 'Southport Division, Waterloo District Conservative Association'; from 24 February, 1903, till 25 January, 1910, as the 'Constitutional Association, Southport Division, Waterloo Polling District'; then from 24 April, 1910, till 20 May, 1918, as the 'Waterloo Conservative Association'. Following the Representation of the People Act, 1918, which created the new Parliamentary division of Waterloo, embracing also Crosby, Seaforth and Litherland, the Association was re-formed as the 'Conservative and Unionist Association of the Waterloo Division of Lancashire'. The Association's present title resulted from the Representation of the People Act, 1949, by which the Crosby constituency was created. |
