These records reflect the activities of the parish of Pembury, Kent. As well as records of the incumbent minister, which include registers of baptisms, marriages and burials, they also contain records, where they survive, of the churchwardens, the parish constable, the overseers of the poor and the parish surveyor.

The parish of Pembury has two churches, both dedicated to St. Peter. The parish church is an ancient foundation and registers exist from 1560. The new church was opened in 1847 and is usually described as the Upper Church. Most of the registers for this parish emanate from the parish church, but from the middle of the 19th century they contain entries for both churches, distinguishing between the 'Parish Church' and the 'Upper Church'. From 1910 a separate series of marriage registers exists for each church, and is identified as such in the catalogue, the two series of registers continue to date. Virtually all baptisms and burials now take place in the Upper Church.
