Description: |
Particulars generally given are date, name, parish, and occupation of person complaining or owner of property, names of informers (in case of unlicensed alehouses usually excise officers), brief particulars of offence and where committed, signature(s) of convicting justice(s). The numerous game law convictions are often lengthy, with recital of depositions and details of poaching equipment. The file for Michs. 1782 contains a number of depositions apparently unrelated to the convictions. From 1823 memoranda of convictions are on a printed form stating that they were at petty sessions. |
