Administrative / biographical background:

The Rural Sanitary Authority set up in 1872 under the control of the Guardians of Tetbury Union was superseded in 1895 by Tetbury Rural District Council. By the County of Gloucester Review Order of 1935 Tetbury Urban District Council was dissolved and the area transferred to the control of the Rural District Council
