Administrative / biographical background:

The Rural Sanitary Authority set up in 1872 under the control of the Guardians of Stow Union was superseded in 1895 by Stow Rural District Council. By the County of Gloucester Review Order of 1935 the Rural District was dissolved and its constituent parishes subsequently formed part of the newly established North Costwold Rural District
