Administrative / biographical background:

The Rural Sanitary Authority established in 1872 under the control of the Guardians of Chepstow Union administered the Gloucestershire parishes in that Union until its dissolution. In 1895 these parishes came under the control of the newly formed Lydney Rural District Council
