Administrative / biographical background: |
The Gloucestershire Railway Carriage and Wagon Company was established in 1860. The original workshops were designed exclusively for the construction of railway carriages, but in 1876 the Company took over the works of Messrs. Eassie & Co. Ltd., sawmill owners and joinery manufacturers. Then, in 1894, the business of Messrs. Mousell & Co., manufacturers of road vehicles, was also taken over. |
