The Colchester Petty Sessional Division comprised the Borough of Colchester. This division was closely associated with the Lexden and Winstree Division, as can be seen in the similarity of form and content of the examination books for each division. Both courts were held at the Town Hall in Colchester and several of the borough magistrates were also county magistrates for the Lexden and Winstree Division
