Deposition of Paul Pool, formerly master of brigantine Ceres of Pool, sworn on 13 July 1797, produced. John Millett of Truro, clerk to Messrs Theophilus Daubuz and Co. of Falmouth, merchants, appeared and swore that, in August 1795, he attended the discharge of the cargo of Ceres at Gorran within the port of Fowey, which consisted of British fishery salt consigned to John Pearse of Mevagissey, fish-curer; Ceres contained 2,424 bushels, but more appeared to have been loaded; 176 bushels appeared to have been lost through Ceres springing a leak; Ceres was in a leaky state, and no salt appeared to have been taken out.
