Appeal of Madron against order of 11 Oct. 1788 for the removal of William Thomas, wife Margaret, and children William (12), Thomas (9) and James (5 mo.), paupers, from Camborne to Madron: order reversed; Camborne to pay Madron costs.

Treasurer to pay Clerk of the Peace 20s. for carrying the statutes and books from one session to another, and £11 for levy warrants at 5s. each; also 6s. 8d. for examination of Edward Williams, and 10 guineas salary for keeping the accounts.

 

Thomas Matthew, master, and Charles Polgreen, mariner, of the sloop The Fowey, swore at Lostwithiel sessions on 17 July 1788 that, on 21 Dec. 1787, they shipped at Bristol 21 tons of white salt, the property of James Bower of Lostwithiel, 4 tons the property of Benjamin Fox of Par, 4 tons the property of Susanna Emmet, widow, 10 cwt. the property of Jonah Isabell of St Austell, 2 tons the property of Alice Hopwood of St Austell, 1 ton 10 cwt the property of Thomas Jago of Mevagissey, 2 tons the property of John Dawe, jun., of Mevagissey, 10 cwt. the property of Edward May of Lostwithiel, 1 ton 10 cwt. the property of Thomas Daniel of Lostwithiel, 1 ton the property of Petheriah Lukey of Fowey, 2 tons the property of Mary Quinn of Fowey, 10 cwt. the property of Tabitha Bate of Fowey, 10 cwt. the property of Thomas Redding of Fowey, and 10 cwt. the property of William Hicks of Bodennick in Lanteglos by Fowey, and duties were paid; on the voyage to Fowey, the ship was greatly strained by a violent gale of wind, and 3 tons 4 cwt. were lost, not through neglect or fault of the crew.
