P., J. V. and A. V., on which £43 19s. 4½d. duty had been paid, perished: Richard Corfield, Supervisor of Excise, in court, ordered that the Collector of Excise repay or allow the amount.

Appeal of Perranarworthal against order of 12 May 1790 for the removal of Elizabeth Oats, and children Mary, William, Mark and James, from Gwennap to Perranarworthal. Mark Oats, pauper, was bound as a parish apprentice, in about 1774, to Roger Pearce of Perranarworthal, until he became 24. Having served some years, he ran off and went to sea. Before he was 21, he returned to his master and his brother came with him. He told R. P. that he wished to work at Great Mines in Gwennap, and could live with his brother who was a labourer in Gwennap. R. P. said he could go whenever he pleased for what he cared. M. O. lived with his brother for more than 40 days as a day labourer. Perranarworthal refused to give up the indenture, on the basis that more than 40 days' residence in Gwennap was sufficient to gain settlement: order confirmed, subject to opinion of the King's Bench; Perranarworthal to pay Gwennap costs.
