Grant (Chyrograph).

 

Note that Oliver Wysa has granted to Jn. Harlysdon the bailiwick of his hundred of Est weuelshyre from Michaelmas for ten yrs. with the duties pertaining to a bailiff, except dues payable to the King. Rent, a rose at the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, for all services. If Jn. died during term, his excrs. and Roger Bealdeberry to be responsible for the bailiwick for one yr. and then to revert to the grantor. And if any of the beasts of the said Oliver or his hrs. be distrained on or taken by the King's minister for fines and amerciaments and for defect of payment the beasts of the said Jn. and Roger in Harlysdon Bealdebery (Bealbury in St. Mellion) and Pengelly, near Callington shall be impounded at *Trewandra or Greyston. Jn. and Roger to take back Oliver's beast to place where they were captured in a good state at their own costs. Sealing clause - sealed with the seal of the Dean of East because Oliver's seal is unknown to many.
