Description:

Proposals (draft)

(1) The Adventurers of Polgooth

(2) Rt Hon. Richard Edgcombe, esquire

(1) having agreed with Thomas Coster, esquire, for the engine, observe that Mulvra Mine and Polgooth must be wrought at the same time, and propose that they will take up any shares of adventure in Mulvra which are declined by present adventurers there, on the same terms now subsisting there.

If Mulvra is wrought, as is intended if proper encouragement is found, (2) to have no further consideration for his water.

If Polgooth proves not worth working, (2) to pay a consideration for the Lanherne water.

If Mulvra should not pay the charge of working, and (2)'s water is conveyed to work Polgooth Mines, (1) agree to pay (2).

If Polgooth should not pay the cost of working, and Lanherne water is conveyed to work Mulvra, Mulvra adventurers to pay.

If these terms are agreed, a new lease to be granted.

Other side of sheet (draft), under date 1736 June 14th:

On condition above proposals are accepted, Thomas Coster, esquire, and Polgooth adventurers agree.

Coster will sell all his engines and engine materials in Polgooth, Mulvra, St Martins and Crane, and assign his interest in the watercourses, stamps and stamping materials to (1), (1) paying the same rents Coster now pays for the watercourse and stamping mills.

Four persons to fix price of the engines.
