Administrative / biographical background: |
Knutsford was originally served, from 1851, from Altrincham. The first resident priest, Rev Hugh Lynch, arrived in 1861, and his successor Rev Alcock, designed and erected a church in Queen Street in 1866. The present church built under the auspices of Canon Joseph Cahill was completed on 1983. A history of the parish, by A E Harris, supplies valuable detail on the Catholicism in Knutsford. (See ERC 24/5248/10). |
