Immediate source of acquisition:

Deposited by the Superintendent Minister of Crewe Circuit in October and December 1969 and June 1981, and by Mrs. W. Capper in April 1985. Records relating to individual chapels and societies have been placed in the series EMS. A copy of the 'Circuit Schedule' of deeds and documents not deposited is in the Accession File.

Dates of the unions of Crewe Circuits are as follows:-

 

1934 - Crewe 'A' or Trinity Circuit formed from:-

 

Trinity (former Wesleyan) Circuit.

 

Heathfield (former United Methodist Free Church) Circuit.

 

Part of Mill Street (former Primitive Methodist) Circuit (remainder transferred to Nantwich Hospital Street Circuit).

 

Crewe 'B' or Wedgwood (former Primitive Methodist) Circuit remained separate.

 

1964 - Crewe Circuit formed from:-

 

Crewe 'A' or Trinity Circuit.

 

Crewe 'B' or Wedgwood Circuit.
