The firm of John White and Co. estate agents were established in Bold Street, Warrington in the early 19th century. The founder of the business was Henry White, a noted land surveyor in North Cheshire and South Lancashire in the 1830s and 1840s. He was responsible for many of the tithe commutation maps in that area. In the latter part of the 19th century the firm was known as John White, MacIver and Co. The principal clients of the firm were the Blackburne family of Hale, Lyon of Appleton, Wilson-Patten of Winmarleigh and Fox of Girsby. |
