Administrative / biographical background:

St. Ives is an ancient parish. Before 1968 the parish was known ecclesiastically as St. Ives with Old Hurst and Woodhurst, after this date these chapelries were separated from the parish. Until 1837 the parish was within the diocese of Lincoln; since then it has belonged to the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon, in the diocese of Ely.

 

The parish was within the St. Neots' Poor Law Union 1836-1930, Municipal Borough (1874-1974) and Urban Sanitary District 1875-1894. Since 1974 the parish has been within Huntingdonshire District.
