William Wilkes of Whitefriars, London, distiller, states - that by will of John Hayward of Tattenhall, Staffs., clerk deceased, dated 29 November 1729, who was seised in fee simple of one-quarter the Manor of Tattenhoe Regis and of freehold and copyhold property in the Parish of Tattenhoe Regis to the value of £110, Hayward bequeathed his freehold, copyhold property and residue to the said Wilkes (his devisee, executor and residuary legatee), but Wilkes now complains that John Appleyard, aged 15 years, and Elizabeth Crompton, widow, (sole surviving heirs of William Hayward, only brother of John Hayward, senior, the latter being father of John Hayward the said testator who died without issue) have combined with others yet unnamed to deny the will.
