Administrative / biographical background:

[Reading Guild of Artists was founded in 1930 "to create a common bond of union between the practising Artists and Craft workers of the district". Annual exhibitions of members' work were held, and a programme of events such as lectures and demonstrations. Originally the Guild had strong links with Reading University School of Art.

 

The Record Office library holds a copy of Eric V Watson's A History of the Reading Guild of Artists 1930-1980.]
