Administrative / biographical background:

Leslie Charles Walker was the eldest son of Alexander Thomson Walker (1835-1905), sub-manager of Reading Water Works, 1875-1883, and manager, 1883-1905. Leslie Charles (b.c.1874-5) was his father's assistant before succeeding him as manager. He married Bessie Lane, matron of Park Hospital, in 1907

 

His twin brother Alexander T Walker died in Hong Kong in 1913. A younger brother, William Arthur Walker (c.1876-7-1915) was manager of the Higham and Hoo Water Works Company, near Rochester, Kent
