Administrative / biographical background: |
Bryan Brothers Ltd. was founded by James Edward Bryan, who had begun his career as a taxi-driver in 1909 for Bristol Tramway Co. He set up a workshop and car dealership, which in 1933 received the Ford franchise. During World War Two the company, along with Ramsays and the Cathedral Garage, assembled "knock-down" vehicles for the services, keeping its customers' cars on bricks in the Centre Garage. After the war Bryan Brothers Ltd. continued to be run by the family, operating showrooms at College Green, Brislington and in Cornwall. |
