Project description
In response to the recent relocation of over 4 million records from the Palace of Westminster to The National Archives, we are offering up to four student placements for postgraduate and/or doctoral researchers to work with this exciting and important material. You will be inducted and supervised by a record specialist and will be supported to develop a discrete independent research project focusing on records from the Archives of Parliament.
We are particularly interested in hidden histories, original narratives, and research that engages with inclusive histories. This could include:
- Black History
- South Asian History
- LGBTQI+ History
- Disability History
- History from Below (People's History)
Successful candidates will be comfortable scoping relevant archival material, developing their own project, and writing up their findings.
Activities include
- Placement students can choose to participate in the planning and delivery of public outreach activities (e.g. document displays, podcasts, or public talks).
- Development of a blog post for the TNA website
- An opportunity to visit the Palace of Westminster and meet stakeholders in Parliament.
