Project description

The UK Government Web Archive contains more than 8 billion digital objects. It is one world’s largest openly accessible web archive and contains the record of over twenty years of government information released to the public, and yet we face significant challenges encouraging research engagement and use of this resource.

One of the ways we hope to address this is by creating a series of themed collections and case studies that show what the web archive can be used for, to inspire the next generation of web archive researchers. Using the UK Government Web Archive as a source, the placement holder will create a case study or a themed collection celebrating an area of their choice that they would like to highlight in the web archive collection.

The placement holder is encouraged to identify their own area of interest in the collection and will work with our team to become more familiar with web archives as a form as well as how web archives are created. Narratives that they create will be used to inspire and promote research use of the web archive.
