You will need to create a free account to start volunteering. After you have done this, you will be able to start transcribing our records.

Projects involving online collaboration
Help us to describe our records online
We are looking volunteers to help tag and describe our records, both in our online catalogue, Discovery, and on other platforms such as Flickr.
Discovery opportunities
We have introduced a tagging tool to Discovery, our online catalogue, to allow users to add key words or phrases to our records. This will help other users to find records they might have missed otherwise.

'Through a lens' project
Our ‘Through a lens’ series has published the CO 1069 series of photographs on Flickr. This provides online access to 1000s of photographs previously only available in-person at Kew.
This has given users the opportunity to help improve catalogue descriptions and geographical references. We aim to add them these contributions from Flickr to our catalogue.
Our current Caribbean through a lens project seeks to build relationships with under-represented communities regionally and engage non-traditional audiences of archives. You can take part in this project by adding your comments to this collection of photos. This will help us to share Caribbean stories and histories with global audiences.
We've run similar projects to this in the past thanks to volunteer support, including the Africa through a lens project.
