Demonstrating impact

Using data to demonstrate value

This webinar, brought to you by the Archives Revealed funding programme, will provide you with an understanding of how you can evidence and communicate the impact of your work in the archive sector and beyond.

The webinar will provide you with real-world examples and case studies from a variety of projects and introduce you to the Theory of Change model which can be used for your own reporting.

Digital

The Digital Archives Learning Exchange (DALE) was established to explore digital challenges, build capacity and improve digital skills across the archive sector. Facilitated by The National Archives, DALE aims to be sector-led, organising regular opportunities to share learning and explore relevant issues.

You can find other DALE webinars in our Events for archive professionals playlist.

Digital engagement from toolkit to TikTok

In this DALE webinar, we introduce The National Archives' digital engagement toolkit. Also, guest speakers from across the archive sector talk about how they've used different platforms to engage a wide range of audiences.

Discovering Collections, Discovering Communities (DCDC) conference

DCDC25

DCDC is an international conference for those working in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums and Academia (GLAMA) sectors.

DCDC25 – held in Durham and online on Pheedloop – brought together delegates from around the world and at all career stages to celebrate what is already being achieved, explore the challenges we face across the GLAMA sector and work together as a community to find sustainable solutions.

In this keynote, Professor Katy Shaw describes the Creative Communities programme (funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council), which is exploring how co-created culture can enhance belonging, address regional inequality and deliver devolution across the UK. You can find other recordings from the conference in our DCDC25 playlist.

Fundraising

Crowdfunding and digital fundraising

Our crowdfunding and digital fundraising series consists of four hour-long modules, addressing how your archive can make the most of crowdfunding and digital fundraising.

Module one is about understanding the digital landscape. It covers the wider picture for digital fundraising/crowdfunding, considering who is online, and how and where they’re giving in the digital space. You can find the other three modules in our Events for archive professionals playlist.

Advanced bidwriting

Our advanced bidwriting training has been designed for those working in the archive sector who already have a good understanding of what goes into a funding bid and what funders are looking for. You will ideally have had some experience of submitting applications or bids to funders and/or commissioners.

The course consists of four one-hour modules. Module one is about 'making a start'. It covers where to go to find funding opportunities, and how to decide where best to spend your valuable time writing applications and bids. This module will also make sure you’re driven by the right characteristics. You can find the other three modules in our Events for archive professionals playlist.

Providing access to your collections

Manage Your Collections in Discovery

Manage Your Collections is a tool that allows archive services to add, edit, delete and restore information about their own collections in our online catalogue, Discovery. This webinar gives an overview of Discovery and what collections information an archive can add. It includes a live demo showing the full functionality of the tool.

Working with difficult records

Working with records of traumatic histories

This series of talks explores how archives engage with difficult records through people-centred and trauma-informed practices. This session brings together three speakers from the archive sector that have worked with survivors or relatives of victims of violent and/or traumatic events.

The speakers reflect on the emotional pressure and responsibilities of providing access to these records, on the problems of closed, redacted or missing records, and on the feelings that need to be navigated while doing so. You can find the other webinars from this series in our Working with difficult records playlist.
