Major Archive Projects Learning Exchange
The Major Archive Projects Learning Exchange (MAPLE) supports organisations planning or managing large archive projects – primarily capital developments. Over 120 organisations are members of the group.
This networking group, facilitated by The National Archives, provides a forum for organisations to share their experiences, knowledge and plans via an email list and through sharing documentation. Group members include local authority, university, national and specialist archives, among others.
The group meets once or twice per year to talk about progress of projects and explore common issues. Discussion topics have included:
- co-location and partnership working
- change management
- sustainability
- architect-client relationships
- logistics planning
- demonstrating wider impacts from capital investment

Please write to us if you would like to join the group or find out more about it, if you are planning a large-scale project (such as a new repository), or you are willing to contribute your own experience of managing a capital project.
