Other information

Originally estalbished as a facial injury hospital in World War I, it became a TB and shellshock hospital in 1925 and was taken over the LCC as an out-county convalescent hospital in 1929. In World War II it was used for military convalescence (in part) and was subsumed into the NHS in 1948. The original huts lasted until 1974 when the new hospital was opened.
