Other information

The Manchester Hospital for Consumption and Diseases of the Throat and Chest was founded as a voluntary hospital in 1875. In 1885 the small hospital was replaced by the Hardman Street Dispensary, with St Anne's Hospital in Bowdon for in-patients and ENT cases; in 1905 the Crossley Sanatorium at Delamere was opened for the reception of additional in-patients. The hospital closed in 1948, but St Anne's Hospital and the Crossley Sanatorium continued independent existences.
