Other information

Pre-1907 the hospital was managed by the South Shields Town Council. After 1907 until 1948 it was controlled by the North-East Durham Joint Health Board. It was recorded as having 30 beds and it appears to have closed shortly after the National Health Service was established, probably some time between 1951 and 1955.
