Other information

Before 1948 the Hospital and the Village Settlement operated as one concern. The latter has continued as an independant concern for the industrial re-training of the disabled, and for sheltered workshops etc, undertaken name of "The Papworth Trust", with main offices on same site. Hospital now "Cardiothoracic Centre for East Anglia". Well known for pioneering and continuing heart transplant surgery. Associated Hospitals: Bernard Baron Hospital - Subsidicy hospital on same or adjacent sites. Princess Hospital Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge 1959 substantial association due to establishment of Cardiology unit at Papworth with view to eventual transfer to new Addenbrooke's Hospital which has not taken place.
