Moor Park Hospital opened on 12 May 1902 as a hospital for infectious diseases and was administered by the Health Department of Tynemouth County Borough until it transferred to the NHS in 1948. It closed in 1986 while functioning as a hospital for geriatric patients and also headquarters of the local Health Authority.
