Other information

Opened in 1904 by the Lancashire Inebirates Acts' Board, as an inebriate reformatory for women; from 1920 used solely for mental defectives, annexed to Calderstones Hospital (Burnley district) and transferred to Lancashire Asylums Board in 1924. From 1933 Brockhall Hospital had a separate management committee and Medical Superintendent. Brockhall came under Brockhall and Calderstones hospital management committee from 1948 - 1940 and Brockhall hospital management committee from 1950 - 1974. The hospital was absorbed by Calderstones NHS Trust in 1993.
