In 1940 the General amalgomated with Bristol Royal Infirmary to form the Bristol Royal Hospital. Medicine, surgery, orthopaedics and fractures were concentrated at the Infirmary. Gynaecology, Oto-rhino-Laryngology, Dermatology and Radiology were concentrated at the General Hospital.
