I wanted to ask for data on FOI requests that have, or may have been, generated by/with the assistance of AI:

  1. Number of AI FOI requests received each year
  2. Decisions made on the requests
  3. Copies of the requests
  4. I wanted if you used an AI tools for redaction, or if redaction was done manually.

The National Archives has no way of knowing whether or not FOI requests that we receive have, or may have been, generated by/with the assistance of AI. We therefore do not hold information relevant to this part of your request.

Question 4

The National Archives does not employ AI tools for redaction, and we can confirm our redaction processes are completed manually.
