World War I: The Home Front (North East)

What was life like on the Home Front in the North East of England during the First World War?

In this workshop students will explore documents from Tyne and Wear and Archives and the National Archives to find out about the impact of the First World War on civilian life in the North East of England. Using a variety of sources including posters, photographs, and school log books, they will find out about the role of women, and about air raids, rationing and propaganda.

The workshop is led by an experienced history educator.
