Why did the Northern Earls rebel against Elizabeth I’s regime in 1569 and how did the government respond?

In this workshop students will examine documents from the National Archives relating to the uprising of the Northern Earls in 1569. They will consider the reasons for the revolt and the government’s response to it.

This session is not designed to be an introduction to the topic and students should have studied the Revolt of the Northern Earls before attending this workshop.
