The Industrial Revolution (North East)

What was it like to live in the North East of England during the Industrial Revolution?

In this workshop students will explore documents related to various aspects of life in the North East of England during the industrial revolution. Using a variety of sources including government reports, newspapers and letters, they will find out about working conditions in the factories, mines and shipyards, explore living conditions in towns such as Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland and learn about poverty, health and disease, and even about how people spent their leisure time.

The workshop is led by an experienced history educator.
