|
|
The Manchester Board of health opened a voluntary House of Recovery in 1796, which was closely associated with the Manchester Infirmary. This house of recovery closed as a separate hospital in 1852. In 1871 a fever hospital, first known as Barnes Hospital, was opened at Monsall, again in connection with the Infirmary, but now also with contributions from Manchester Corporation. In 1896 the Monsall Hospital was transfered to the Corporation by Act.
